OUR LOCAL FARMERS

We began celebrating 'all things Vancouver' in1992, becoming one of the first restaurants in the region to firmly embrace local ingredients. Our kitchen has, in large part, helped define Pacific Northwest cuisine.

These days, our approach has evolved to 'the more local, the better,' which describes much more than the extraordinary palette of flavours brought to our back door by the community of farmers and fishers we're proud to know. It also reflects our commitment to making every effort to ensure a sustainable* future for everyone who helps put local food on our tables, and for all of us who relish it.

*a sustainable food system meets the needs of the present, without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.”…David Suzuki

HANNAH BROOK FARM

Located 40 miles from Vancouver in Ruskin, B.C., the farm grow more than 60 varieties of greens using biodynamic methods.  They use the mineral rich artesian springs onsite to naturally irrigate the crops in one of the few chinampa systems in Canada, creating their beds as “islands” that the springs flow around.  Established in 1860, they also grow more than 50 different types of vegetables.

HELMERS FARM

Located in the Pemberton Valley, Doug and Jenette Helmer, grow some of the best tasting potatoes in the world. Now, driven by the commitment of their daughters Anna and Jenny, the Helmers continue to help Raincity Grill maintain its leadership role in providing quality regional cuisine.
